Content Marketing - a long-term approach that will ensure you will have a constant flow of leads

Content marketing should be at the top of your list of strategies to implement if you're a freelancer looking to build a sustainable business.

Content marketing is an evergreen strategy because it's based on providing value to your audience through high-quality content that speaks to their needs and interests. However, unlike other marketing tactics that come and go, content marketing is built on a foundation of building trust and establishing thought leadership over time.

There are many different types of content marketing that you can use to reach your target audience, including blog posts, social media content, videos, podcasts, ebooks, and more. The key is to find the types of content that resonate with your audience and that you enjoy creating.

When should you start implementing a content marketing strategy? The answer is simple: right now. The longer you wait to create content that adds value to your audience, the longer it will take to build your brand and establish yourself as a trusted authority in your field.

To get started:

  • Think about the questions your clients or potential clients are asking and create content that provides valuable answers.
  • Share your content first on a platform you control (blog, newsletter, podcast), but spread it through social media and online communities where your audience is active.
  • Don't forget to be consistent – regular, high-quality content is critical to building a successful content marketing strategy.

It's important to remember that content marketing is a long-term game. It won't deliver overnight success but will help you build a strong brand and a loyal audience over time. Start creating content today and see the results for yourself.

Upgrade content marketing to thought leadership marketing

Diego Pineda asks a powerful question in this Linkedin post:

Content marketers: are you old school or new school?

If you focus on keywords, long-form content, gated lead magnets, and social media links, it's time to upgrade to the new school, my friend. Create disruptive thought leadership content, ungated educational resources, and valuable zero-click social media posts. Don't just capture demand; create it by becoming a "media company" and creating your category with new keywords.

Weekly Challenge

This week's challenge is to block 2 hours and decide on the following:

  • What type of content you'll create?
  • On what platform will you be focused?
  • How regularly you're going to publish?

Ask me anything about the challenges you face in choosing the right direction with your content. I'm one email away.

Until next week,

Pura Vida!
